With an early pitch inspection on Friday, the home advantage was given to Chadderton Grasshopper's With no rain over night or on Saturday morning, was Alan's decision the right one to reverse the fixture.. 20 mins each way will soon tell !! A short trip up the M62 brings us to Boundry Park the home of OAFC and the near by home pitch of Chadderton Gasshopper's, where a sloping pitch awaited us along with a little wind, ooh we are so lucky to have the choice of two flat playing surfaces when allowed to use them ! The game kicked off, and with early pressure from both sides, producing some exciting attacking flurries. Max at his best blocking and tackling to perfection. Ten minutes gone and against the run of play Chadderton banged in their first goal, Determined to pull it back Unsworth kept up the early pressure with Reece Joe Jack Alex and Harvey all playing their part up until the half time whistle. The team talk from Alan and Daz was encouraging and again the boys listening to what was being said. Millen was first to show sign's of the half time talk coming off after being instructed to push up and not play to deep, he collected the ball from mid way up Unsworth's own half and with a neat precision pass he lay the ball at Lucas's feet, who quickly dispatched it into the top of the net 1 - 1 and well deserved by Unsworth but it was not to last, Chadderton now with the slope, began pushing plenty of bodies forward into Unsworth area. A tame shot through a packed goal mouth giving Aaron no chance to see or move to pick the ball out. 2 - 1 with still plenty of time left to go. The next move involved the Four Musketeers Aaron to Millen and while Millen thought about his next move Nathan ran into the box calling for the ball Millen again dispatched the ball first class into Chaddertons box, with the ball under his feet and back to goal Nathan back heeled the ball through a number of Chadderton boots towards the goal line and just before it crossed Lucas nipped in making sure, hitting the back of the net yet again 2 - 2 well deserved and still plenty of time left to play The game restarted and Chadderton piled on the pressure throwing men forward to try and regain the lead. Aaron pulling off save after save as Chadderton peppered the target hitting everything apart from the back of the net Millen obeying Alans instructions from half time again picked the ball up outside Unsworth's area and made a run up the left wing when just on the half way line he pushed the ball forward to Lucas who skipped past the first defender and out paced the second who was coming into help, running central to the target he released the ball from 7 yards out rattling the onion bag... what a hat trick and what a game With still minutes left and Chadderton throwing everything at Unsworth the boys stood up committing themselves to every tackle, blocking every shot, and again Aaron pulling off save after save The whistle seemed along time coming but when it did what a relief, Final score 2 - 3 Unsworth So after inflicting Elton and Walshaw's first ever draw upon them last weekend the lads complete a good week of football by presenting Chadderton Grasshoppers with their first defeat of the season. M o M this week again a close call with Aaron shading it with his outstanding keeping Well done, Its a pleasure to help train you when your listening and putting into practice what your taught . Well done also to Max with his excellent blocking tackling and putting the ball to touch when under pressure.
