Saturday morning was the day my patience would be tested and I ended up running around like a headless chicken.
During the week I'd received numerous texts from players who were unavailable for numerous reasons and it looked like our cup match was going to be a non starter.
Late friday night and only a squad of 11 another phone call and Sam was doubtful he'd been ill all week with the flu and once his mum realised we were struggling she said he would come and play.
Ten minutes before kick off and still no ref, where is he? After a quick chat, the ref cant make it and the league say you'll have to find another ref or forfeit.
So I ran around Hillock asking everyone and Angela came to the rescue her friend is a ref and she called in a favour and saved the day, A big big thank you.
It was 11.30 before the match kicked off and the boys were already tired as they had been warming up for over an hour. Bridge scored after a few minutes and then again we were 2 nil down. James was up front with Michael and he was determined to get some goals, he shot at goal only for the keeper to hit it out and scored on the rebound, great goal 2-1. Bridge were shocked at us scoring and both sides seemed determined but their goal keeper was pulling off some good saves. All of a sudden it went a bit Pete Tong and they had scored another 3 goals, we pulled one back and another 2 by the away team, half-time score 7-2 to the visitors.
Sean gave a good motivational team talk, their were no subs so he moved Sam and Austin around which seemed to balance the team. The second half was completely different we were in control, Sam had the midfield sewn up, with Austin in the back 4 our defence was solid, Harry and Elliot both made two brilliant goal line clearances, the passing was great and we were putting pressure onto the visitors, James secured his hat-trick and well deserved, Aaron and Elliot got on the score sheet and Michael's corner was helped in by their goalie.
With the score 8-6 to the visitors the last 5 minutes was played all in their half, we piled on the pressure and their goalie kept us out. The boys played tremendously well today against a side a league above.

Scorers:
James 3
Aaron 1
Elliot 1
Michael 1
