Unsworth Dragons returned to winning form in the second game of the season, following last week’s loss at home to Worsley Juniors. Summerseat were the visitors, a team we have had a 100% record against in previous seasons. Yesterday’s fixture was not to disappoint. Clearly a class above, if truth be told the game was over at 2-0 – Summerseat never looking like getting into the game. Half-time finished 3-1 for Unsworth. With Aaron cutting through the Summerseat midfield like a knife through butter, the majority of the second half was played in Summerseat’s half of the pitch – resulting in a sound punishment from the Dragons to the tune of 5 more goals. Casey completed his hat-trick, with Callum very unlucky not to have added a hat-trick of his own. Jake was very unlucky to hit the post, in what was probably the move of the match (down the right hand side) with some superb one-touch football and a great run. Luke had virtual free reign on the left hand side and crossed in a number of super crosses and was rewarded for his efforts with a great goal. Dan, Dean and Kieran were superb at the back – joined by Austin who was calm and collected making his debut for the Dragons. Apart from Summerseat’s consolation goal (the result of a set piece), Oliver had a quiet game in goal, hardly needing to touch the ball all game. The few times he was called into action, he was calm and collected the ball confidently. A great result for Unsworth, but we might need to step up the tempo for next week’s home tie against Blackley Juniors. Well done Dragons! Scorers: Casey (4), Callum (2), Luke (1), Aaron (1) Man of the Match: Jacob
