A victory against Hurricanes looked doubtful after a shaky start and an absence of Dragons in midfield allowed them to score the opener. Dragons seemed shell shocked by this and we had Daniel to thank for keeping the score down as he saved a string of shots from Hurricanes with some excellent goal keeping. Dragons were a little too desperate to get one back and shots from Josh, Rowan and Ted were all wide of the goal. Jamie did well to gain possession of the ball and held off the Hurricanes in order to get the ball to Josh. Josh had a shot on target but it was picked up by the keeper. The game turned towards the end of the first half and we kept testing their keeper with shots from Josh and Sam, sadly he passed the test and all the shots were saved. Thankfully 2 great goals in quick succession from Sam completed the turnaround and at half time we were 2-1 up. The second half told a different story and our unbeaten run looked set to continue. Joe’s fantastic first goal for the Dragons opened up the gap and caused his dad to do a backwards somersault in celebration!! The play continued in front of their goal and Kai had 2 attempts at goal, unfortunately one went wide and the other was picked up by their keeper, who was having a fantastic game. The ball went out of play, Rowan took the throw in and found Joe, Joe passed the ball back to rowan who weaved past 2 Hurricanes players, slipped the ball in the back of the net and looked to have wrapped up the game. Hurricanes didn’t give up and battled on, their number 11 broke away but was stopped by Michel whose presence forced him to put the ball wide. The final whistle was blown and we managed to notch up another win.
