Even though we beat this team 3-1 last time we met, we couldn't afford to relax and presume that just because they were lower in the division than us we would win and remain undeafeted in 2008! The game got off to a slow start, with neither team dominating the game, but then something kicked in and play really took off. Josh had the first shot at goal, which was cleared off the line by the keeper, who then managed to get the ball up the field to his players. They gained control and tooked a shot but it was cleared off the line by Michel. Bury managed to regain possession and had another shot but Michel was consitant in his play and cleared it again. The ball found its way to Sam who kept hold of the ball and slammed it home to make the score 1 - 0. Our joy at this goal was short lived though as Bury fought back and managed to slot one past Daniel making it 1 all. The game continued with some fantastic football - Joe and Alex won the majority of their tackles - they jsut seem to be improving week after week. Ted was on form too and although a couple of his shots were saved - he never gave up, eventually finding birthday boy Josh who netted his first goal of the match. At 2- 1 we couldn't afford to take things easy and just before half time Rowans non stop effort paid off and he scored an excellant goal taking us into the second half with a 3 - 1 scoreline. Kai, Jamie and Cain came on at the start of the second half and all three of them put a fantastic effort in but nothing we did seemed to break down Bury's defence. No-one gave up though and the team battled on. Daniel scored his first goal of the season, but unfortunately it was in the wrong net - he saved a shot but it slid off him and went in the back of our own net and gave Bury their second goal. An injured Ted was replaced by Josh who really seemed to want to make his mark on this game, never giving up he scored his second goal giving Unsworth a good lead. The scoreline of 4-2 was kept in tact as Daniel, obviously making amends for the own goal made 2 cracking saves, denying Bury the chance to equalize. Well done lads it was a real team effort and well done to Michel for getting a well deserved man of the match.
