unsworth win top of table clash
an away clash at walshaw and a top of the table battle with both teams having a 100 per cent record and 4 straight wins each.the teams had met weeks before in a pre season game with unsworth being 6-1 winners and mitchell grabbing 5 of our goals, seconds into the game and walshaw looked like they didnt want a repeat with captain marvel being man marked by two walshaw players, the boys were slow getting out of the blocks and walshaw were starting to take a grip on the game and really piling on the pressure, the boys were digging in deep and making some important clearances with hasnat "the kaiser" shabbaz putting in his usual cool, calm and collected performance, with spikey "twinkle toes" stansfield in a new role alongside him and callum safe hands making some great saves.after riding the storm unsworth were starting to get into there rythem and taking the game to walshaw, unsworth were now creating a few chances of there own with some terrific link play by the captain bringing oscar "ronaldo" radcliffe and louis "messi" chortiw firmly into the game, the half time whistle blows and a really hard fought contest leaves the game in the balance. with the boss reorganising at half time the boys were well up for going on to win the game and the introduction of riley "the rifle" smith who over the last few games had really started to produce the goods proving to be a smart move.moments later unsworth were to take the lead through oscar "ronaldo" radclife with another of his trade mark heat seekers from the edge of the box.unsworth were now in total control of the game and increased the lead soon after with another ronaldo finish this time with a superb chip from the corner of the box.with joe "terry"morrison coming on at the back to reinforce the defence and making some great tackles the walshaw lads were now struggling to find a way through the unsworth defence, another great performance from sammy "turn on a sixpence"jones whos really stepped up his game lately must now give the boss a real headache with the little man banging on the door for a starting place of his own.more unsworth pressure and a moment of real class sealed the game for the lads from hillock with twinkle toes picking up the ball inside his own half and dancing past several walshaw players and unleashing an unstoppable left foot finish leaving there keeper with no chance,3-0 unsworth, with dan "bite yer legs" matthews playing his part with some very strong tackling all the boys had now had there run out.some world class saves off safe hands late in the game ensured the boys would go on to win,but a very well worked walshaw goal gave the home side some pride. a huge 3 points and now top of the league in there own right the lads are gonna take some stopping in this form and managed to send the unsworth faithful home happy man of the match-oscar "ronaldo" radcliffe |
