Unsworth kicked off the 2011/12 season with an open fixture on the first Sunday, so it was left to a home game against high flying Bridge Taven on Sunday 18th September.

With Ads unavailable due to registration at Uni, Lamar Harrison working and Mike T injuring his achilles, this was the boys first fixture since beating Prestwich CC in a friendly 1-0.  Matty Williams showed what we'd all been waiting for - a bag full of goals (5), and Danny Mather carried on from last season scoring two sensational free kicks to beat Bridge Tavern 7-3.

Unsworth had a break, due to Heaton United's re-arranged fixture in the Lancashire Sunday Trophy, so it was down to belated business today.

The visitors to Hillock were AFC Elton, who in previous seasons had proven difficult opponants away from home.  Unsworth finally opened the scoring with a sensational strike from Brad after a hatful of chances had been missed by Ads and Jamie.  Some of the creativity from Unsworth was a joy to watch.  The second goal came 10 minutes before the break when Mike M's spot kick was saved, but directly from the corner captain Dean Stokes made no mistake to make it two.

After a somewhat heated half time team talk, Lamar replaced Mike and was quickly making life difficult for the AFC Elton defence.  Lewis replaced Matty and quickly renewed his under 18's partnership with Lamar, and it was Lewis who set up Lamar with his second.

Olli replaced an injured Dean and new signing James Melluish went from right back to centre-half alongside Keiran.

The final goal came from Lewis who latched onto a ball from Brad to make the final score 5-0.

Even though Moff you had a great game (man of the match material - so everyone said), we still ALL pull together taking the equipment back to the changing rooms, EVERYONE WILL BE WATCHED NEXT TIME WE ARE AT HOME!!!!!
and slackers will be punished........ Hahaha
