Unsworth entertained Whitefield Wanderers, who last season were our bogie team, and with Barton still in bed at 10.30 (and no word from him) it was down to Olli to step into Barton's shoes - and what big shoes they are!!!

Unsworth started with a bear 11 (yes the Veteran stepped onto the field from the off!!! - new nick name will be revealed later) and set the tempo of the morning - fast and furious.  The first real chance fell to Jamie in the first 10 minutes, but he missed a great opportunity to put the home side ahead.  It took a fine run from Brad who shot was only parried into the path of the oncoming Jamie to see the first goal of the game scored.

It was a game of few chances in the first half, with both teams closing eachother down with Mike Mellouish and Moffatt working tirelessly in the centre of midfield.  Unsworth's second goal came from superb work from Mike M, who hammered in from close range.

Credit must go a great defensive display, giving Olli only two saves to make in the first half, with Captain Mike Tristram and Keiran playing rock-solid alongside Danny  and Lewis Saunders, who again did a fantastic job in defence.

Half time 2-0

The second half was much of the same with "The Mouth" Morrison (aka Veteran) still on the pitch - who kept shouting "just another 5 minutes Col", it was decided to finally put Barton back where he belongs (also, he was doing Colin's head in on the line mithering) and move Olli to his ususal right-back position.  It was a through ball from Olli to Lewis Saunders who unleashed a fierce drive which rebounded off the keeper and Brad made no mistake from an acute angle to make it 3.  Whitefield Wanderers never gave up and were rewarded with a fine left footed strike into the edge of the top corner, but that seemed to make Unsworth more determined when they went down to 10 men with Lewis Macklin having to be carried off with ligament damage.

A ball from Craig found Olli overlapping down the right, to score an unbelievable 35 yard goal which flew into the top corner giving the keeper no chance (was it a cross or what Olli???)  and Mike Mellouish capped off another great solid performance when he placed his shot under the advancing keeper to give Unsworth their fifth.

It was a great entertaining game, played in the right spirit by both sides.

Colin would like to thank the lads who defended from the front right through to the keeper, you all deserve a pat on the back.  Here's to next weeks away trip to AFC United at Redvales, Manchester Road who are top at the moment.
