In the first home game of the season, Unsworth played host to Radcliffe Wanderers, who were relegated out of the Premier Division last season.

With no balls being kicked prior kick-off, the nets were up bright and early, and both teams were ready at 10.20 for a 10.30 kick-off and it was Unsworth who dominated the first half with free flowing football. Danny Mather took the corner and it was Mike Mellouish who headed powerfully towards the goal and Jamie Macklin nipped in from six yards to head in his opener. Lee Bushell returned from injury to use his trusty left peg after beating the full-back he drove home to make it two after 10 minutes.

Craig Moffatt carved out opportunities for the forwards, it was Jamie who scored his second from close range. Lewis Saunders and Lewis Macklin were on the right and always looked dangerous, and it was Lewis Saunders who power-drived an effort from 30 yards just to see it skim the top of the bar.

Just before half time Lewis Macklin beat the full-back for pace and coolly picked out Jamie for his hat-trick (Josh dont ever bet with Jamie - Martin will tell you he always wins!!!!).

Radcliffe Wanderers didn't give and still looked dangerous on the break, only to find Mike Tristram and Keiran Davies in top form.

Half time - 4-0

In the second half, Olli Colgan replaced Danny Mather and Radcliffe Wanderers came out and pushed forward for a goal after what looked like a rollicking by the manager. They made two changes and became threatening only to find "Tractor Boy" Barton hard to beat who always distributed the ball to our full-backs which lead to the fifth freaky goal by Lee Bushell when the keeper dropped it and the centre-half cleared, only to smash the ball against the oncoming Bushell to loop over the keeper. To be fair, Radcliffe Wanderers didn't give up and grabbed two goals in the space of 10 minutes.

Ross Jones came on for Mike Mellouish and Brad Jones replaced an injured Lewis Sauders. Josh Kedie, Lee Bushell and Jamie Macklin linked up for Bushell's third and Unsworth's 6th. And with five minutes to go, Lewis Macklin was put through by Brad Jones on the edge of the box and chipped the keeper to make it seven.

This week, only 1 broken nose, one bruised ankle and still injured from last week Mitchell Brown. Paul Morrison was still recovering from his 60 minutes the previous week but his mouth on the line still works!!! Nice to see our Turkish international forward, Brad Higgins, back and our loyal supporters Martin Colgan and Geoff Mellouish and our mascot BAZ back on home soil.

This Years Scorers to date:
Jamie Macklin x 4
Lee Bushell x 3
Lewis Macklin x 3
