AFC Elton were the visitors on Sunday, and Unsworth got off to a blistering start after five minutes when Jamie Macklin latched onto a shot from Mitchell Brown and made sure from close range. Mitchell your shot was going in, no matter what Jamie says!!!! Ha ha ha Unsworth dominated early in the game, but Elton came back with some nice counter-attacking football, and drew level after 20 minutes. Mike Mellouish split the defence for Brad Higgins to make it 2-1. In the 40th minute, Elton grabbed the equaliser to go into the break level. After the "Hair-dryer" treatment from Colin at half time, Unsworth came out raring to go, and Mike Mellouish got onto a through ball from Lee Bushell to put Unsworth 3-2 up. Then Lewis Macklin came on for Brad Higgins, Josh Kedie replaced Ollie Colgan and Craig Moffat replaced Mitchell Brown who was disgruntled as he didn't get the ball. Jamie Macklin turned and swivelled to beat the keeper at the near post to make it 4-2, and then grabbed his hat-trick to put the game out of sight when Lewis Macklin's shot was pushed into Jamie's path. Lewis Macklin beat the advancing centre-half, only to have his shirt pulled resulting in a penalty. Up stepped Lee Bushell but the keeper pulled off a great save down to his right-hand post. Mike Tristram was asked to play at the back and did a fantastic job alongside Lewis Saunders at right-back. We need a new free-kick taker as Dan Smith will soon find his shots going through the near by windows. Any takers??? And NO NOT YOU BARTON. Next game away to Commercial Sunday 21st March. Meet at Hillock at 9.45 as no-one wants to get changed in the cellar at the Commercial...... |
